Gen AI, Partnering, Cloud, Marketplaces and Reflection - Our top 5 take-aways from the 2024 AWS Partner Summit in Sydney

Insights
Integration and APIs

Our Director, Fergal Coleman, had the pleasure of representing Symphony3 at the 2024 AWS Partner Summit in Sydney on the 9th of April.

The 2024 AWS Partner Summit was a fantastic opportunity to take some time to learn about new solutions, understand some of the latest tech trends, meet some great people doing amazing things in their businesses and to uncover some great opportunities for Symphony3 in 2024.  Here are 5 take-aways:

1. Generative AI is the big opportunity that EVERY tech company is focused on. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last year you probably already know this.

We are only getting started and in the words of Andrew Jassy CEO Amazon “We are only three steps into the Marathon”

The big take away is that doing AI Proof of Concept’s (POCs) is relatively easy these days with myriad solutions available (see examples below). We are reaching a point where businesses are identifying the use cases that deliver the most value to the business, and building POC’s that demonstrate AI can deliver real tangible business benefits.  AWS have identified what they believe are the top strategic industry use cases as shown below.

However, 90% of POCs delivered in 2023 will not make it to production. Getting your AI initiative into production requires  an AI strategy with clear strategic and operational goals, ensuring your culture is correct, building the right skills, and understanding and addressing  the political and legal landscape in your sector.

While there are many players in this market, AWS have some interesting solutions depending on the skills in your business and how far down the technology stack you want to work. For example:

  • If you are fully equipped with AI skills you can use tools like Amazon Sagemaker to build and train and deploy Machine learning models https://aws.amazon.com/sagemaker/
  • If you have some developer skills inhouse you can use Amazon Bedrock to build and scale generative AI applications with existing foundation models https://aws.amazon.com/bedrock/
  • If you have limited technical skills and want to get started with GenAI you can give Amazon Q a try https://aws.amazon.com/q/

Get in touch with us if you would like to discuss how Symphony3 can support you on your AI journey.

2. Cloud Migration is not going away soon. ANZ cloud spending across all sectors is expected to grow on average 19.3% in 2024 and as the image below shows the growth in key sectors.

3. Partners Everywhere – work with others, start your partnering early and build trust. Stick to your specialisations and bring in trusted partners whose specialisations complement yours. In today’s increasingly complex technical environment every organisation needs strong, trusted partners they can work with. Contact Symphony3 to discuss how we can partner with you.

4. Marketplaces are going to be huge and will change the procurement landscape in all sectors.  Research by Canalys estimates that by 2025 cloud marketplaces will be used to procure over $45bn in solutions.  The AWS marketplace is only one of them, but it alone is seeing tremendous growth as organisations start to leverage the marketplace to streamline the procurement process

5. Finally, take time out to attend conferences. Every time I take time out to attend a conference, I remember how important it is to step away from the day-to-day hustle of business. It allows you to consider the big picture for your business, understand the macro changes (technical, social economic political), and see what direction the major players are taking.
