Background
Banyule City Council is situated in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, covering 63 square kilometres and serving a community of over 130,000 residents. The area is renowned for its open spaces and parklands along the Yarra River, it has a rich cultural heritage including the host of the 1956 Olympic Village.
Banyule City Council provides a range of community services that support residents across the municipality, including aged care and home care programs. To support these services, staff relied on both Civica Authority and CarelinkPlus, a client management system used to deliver and manage aged care and community care services. Banyule sought a way to improve information flow between the two systems while supporting staff to spend more time on improving service delivery.
The Digital Challenge
Like many councils, Banyule managed important community care processes across multiple business systems. Staff were required to work across Civica Authority and CarelinkPlus, creating additional administration and increasing the potential for duplicated effort and delays. Council wanted a more connected approach that would streamline processes, improve data accuracy and reduce manual handling.

Information flows seamlessly between systems, helping staff respond faster and spend more time supporting residents. Community care services operate more efficiently, with fewer manual processes and greater consistency across the organisation. Residents experience reliable, responsive support through a secure, monitored and modern platform.
The Solution
Working in close collaboration with Banyule City Council, Symphony3 implemented a SmartGlue integration that maintains name and employee master data in the Civica Altitude ERP while synchronising employee and patient data to the Civica Carelink system, offering:
- Real Time Employee Updates - New employee and name records created in Altitude flow through to Carelink.
- Overnight Employee Synchronisation - A nightly synchronisation keeps Carelink employee data aligned with the Altitude master record.
- Real Time Patient Updates - New patient records are synchronised to Carelink.
- Discharge Status Write-Back - When a patient is discharged, their status is updated back in the Altitude ERP.
