Sustainable technologies for the circular economy and product stewardship organisations

Circular economy businesses and product stewardship organisations (also known as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) organisations) have an increasingly important part to play in our world as we tackle the challenges of climate change. Symphony3’s commitment to sustainable web design, re-use and sharing of open-source code and our optimised, renewable-energy driven SAAS environment make us the perfect partner for circular economy businesses.

What is the circular economy?

The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. This approach extends the life cycle of products. In a circular economy waste is reduced to a minimum. By reusing materials again and again they are kept within the economy for as long as possible.

What is product stewardship?

Product Stewardship is an environmental management strategy that moves the responsibility for minimising the product’s environmental impact to whoever designs, produces, sells, or uses the product. Paintback is an example of a product stewardship company.

More information can be found at the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence.

Digital technology designed for circular economy processes

Our platform is designed to work well with circular economy businesses and we have developed technology to manage key processes.

  1. Streamline logistics: The drop off and pick up locations for materials are often a key part of the re-cycling process. Our technology allows you to set this up quickly and easily.
    • Finding drop-off locations. Our advanced mapping technology enables customers to quickly and intuitively enter their address and find a drop-off location near you. We can add distance and estimated drive-time.
    • APIs for logistics systems. Third party suppliers will often be engaged to pick-up materials. Our platform is designed to be API driven and open. It allows third party suppliers to plug their systems into your digital platform, enabling them to understand in real-time the volume and location of materials to be picked up across Australia, and to schedule accordingly. b.
  2. Education. Ongoing education is required to help consumers embrace the circular economy. We’ve got event booking technology out of the box, integration with interactive education tools, embedded videos and more.
  3. Reporting dashboards and scoreboards. Our open-source graphing library and associated traffic lighting tools enable organisations to demonstrate how they are progressing against set targets. How much of a material has been recycled? How much have you reduced carbon emissions? How much material have you saved from landfill? use our dashboards to show the public and your key stakeholders.
  4. CRM and ERP Integration. We have integrations with major CRM systems like MS Dynamics, Salesforce, IFS and more.
